Recently Engaged?
Huge congratulations! Such an exciting time for you both. There will be lots of pressure to get started with wedding planning: January, in fact, is the time where most couples start making serious plans, setting dates, and booking vendors.
I’m here to help with these earliest stages, and my first piece of advice is: take your time. Enjoy it. You have so much time to make plans, but the first flow of new engagement doesn’t last long, so make the most of it!
Once you’re ready to start planning, really think about what it is you want. Chat to each other, don’t feel pressured to make any big decisions, and try to plan out and stick to a budget.
Prioritize the things that are most important to you. That will be different for everyone, so don’t follow the crowd; do what feels right for you. If you want a day full of stellar entertainment, of gorgeous florals and decor, of incredible food, you can make that happen, but you may need to let some other things go. And that’s ok! It’s your wedding, so do what’s right for YOU!
Look at and chat to as many vendors as you can, to get a good idea of what they can do for you. I advise every couple I meet with to talk to some of my colleagues too, to make sure I’m the right person for them.
Once you find people you vibe with, book them! There’s nothing worse than missing out on your ideal vendor. I always give couples one week to decide, during which I hold their date, and I always tell them when I receive another enquiry, not to pressure, but to let them make an informed decision.
Once you’ve booked your vendor dream team, you’re one step closer to your perfect day. So exiting!!!
