Find out more about humanist naming ceremonies

Happy couple with child

If you've recently welcomed a new baby into your family, congratulations! It's such an exciting time, getting to know your new wee person and watching them grow. If you'd like a special way to celebrate their arrival, commemorate their first birthday, or welcome them to their wider family, then a naming ceremony is a wonderful way to do so.

What is a Naming Ceremony?

Naming ceremonies are a wonderful celebration of life, whether it's a family introduction for a new baby, an affirmation of an older sibling, commemorating an adoption, or adults celebrating a new chapter or life milestone with their nearest and dearest.

There is no legal element to a naming, so it can be literally anything you want it to be!

How does it work?

I will work with you to craft your perfect naming script - you can include readings, music, symbolic rituals, promises, stories, gift-giving, guideparents, whatever is important to you.

I will guide you through the process, provide ideas and inspiration, including samples of readings, music and promises, and help you make choices about rituals and other key elements.

On the day, I will lead the ceremony, support you through the inevitable emotional moments, and make a huge deal of the wee one (or bigger one!) we've all gathered to celebrate.

What does it cost?

My price for namings is £300, which includes travel up to 30 miles one way from my home address. Anything further will incur an additional mileage cost, which will be discussed and agreed to prior to booking.

Namings are such a wonderful, joyous occasion, full of heart and magic, and I promise you, the cost is well worth it to have such a special event for your most precious little person.
